VolleyMax Mounting Instructions
#1-20852
VolleyMax is designed for easy mounting with a limited amount of adjustments. For safety, be sure to check your unit every few months.
Always make sure that safety cables are attached.
Initial Mounting Procedure
NOTE: The Bottom "U" Bolt is positioned so that the bottom of the VolleyMax tube is flush to the bottom of the backboard. The tube should NEVER be allowed to extend below that point.
1. Determine whether you will be mounting your VolleyMax units directly to your backboard or horizontal support pipes.
2. Determine the position on the board where you will mount your unit. Halfway between the edge of the board and the rim is recommended.
3. If your board has protective pads; you have 3 options:
* Pull a small section of the padding away from the backboard and slip the clamp underneath.
* Cut away a section of the foam equal to the width of the clamp. Later, you can re-glue that foam section back onto the clamp.
* Mount the lower clamp-on jaws directly over the pads.
4. Before ascending the ladder, loosen rubber-lined, clamp-on jaws (top and bottom) so they are slightly wider than the board (or posts) to which you are attaching the unit.
5. Upon ascending the ladder, immediately secure the steel safety cable around any secure pipe or support bar located at or near the top of the backboard. This prevents the VolleyMax unit from accidentally falling, during or after installation. Simply wrap the steel cable around the support and attach it back on to itself.
6. Slip the top rubber-lined clamp-on jaws over the top of the board (or upper post).
7. Loosen the top U bolt just enough so that you can slide the main tube up enough to secure the lower clamp against the bottom of the board. Now immediately tighten the "U" bolt.
8. Tighten the jaws securely to the board.
Your installation is now complete.
Fast And Simple Game Set Up
This is where VolleyMax is worth its weight in gold because, at this point, youre just a few minutes away from playing.
All youll ever need from this point on is the awning-type crank and appropriate net (Volleyball or Badminton); all of which came with your system. Youll also need the correct number of Big Red Bases and Tall Posts (1 for Volleyball and 2 for Badminton).
THE 1, 2, 3s OF SETTING THE VolleyMax POSTS:
1. Place the hook end of the crank into the eye-bolt in the bottom of the VolleyMax tube. Crank it down to the point that you can reach the tethered securing pin. The pin does nothing more than to hold the extension tube inside the main tube.
2. Pull the pin and allow the extension tube to lower.
3. Turn the post by hand so the net tensioning assembly (quick-tension clamp with integral rope and release) is at the approximate net height (i.e., maximum of 8 for mens volleyball an a minimum of 61" for badminton). You can make final adjustments after the net is mounted.
Attaching the Nets
NOTE THIS 1-TIME PROCEDURE: Since all gymnasiums are the same in width and distances between crosscourt baskets, you will have to adjust the lengths of your net top cables. This is simply accomplished by tying a loop at either end of the top cable. When tied, the top cable should just barely reach the snap-clamps on the "black tension-pull rope" that is an integral part of the quick-tension clamp. Once the loops are tied, you should not have to repeat the process, unless you change from crosscourt to full court.
1. Move your Big Red Base Post(s) into position (1 for volleyball and 2 for badminton). The post positions are clearly indicated on each net by broad yellow strips with ties on them. The top-most tie is positioned for the posts eye-bolt. Remember, the job of the Big Red Base posts is, simply, to maintain net height. They are NOT USED FOR TENSIONING.
2. Attach the looped ends of the nets top cable to the snap-hook on the "black tension-pull ropes" and take up as much tension as possible by having students pulling simultaneously at both ends.
3. Attach the strip ties to the Big Red Base Posts to set the proper net heights.
4. Pull the "tension-pull ropes" to take up any remain tension.
5. up all tension adjust the VolleyMax post height if required pull the final tension.
6. The only thing that remains is to tie off the bottom cable to the eye-bolt at the bottom of the VolleyMax extension tube. The bottom cable does not require tension.
Removing The Nets
IMPORTANT: Each quick-tension clamp is equipped with a white "safety release cord". By pulling the cord, the quick-tension clamp is opened and the top cable tension is relieved. Once the cable is slack, it can be easily unhooked, untied from the posts and folded for storage.
Each time you use your VolleyMax system, the process will get shorter and shorter, until it takes but just a few minutes to assemble.
