WallStops Activity Sheet
#1-21699
Introduction
WallStops were designed to help students and teachers organize their tasks when working at stations. With the multiple pockets for task cards, students can be challenged many different ways.
Usage
When different grades follow each other during the day, the teacher can color code the task cards for different grade levels. For example, when the first grade students come in they are to do all the yellow task cards, the second grade will do the blue cards and so on.
Another way to utilize the versatility of WallStops is to put warm-up stations in the top pocket and have the students go to each stop. When they return to that "stop" they do the next card which might be the task you are working on that day.
Whenever possible, find a picture of the task at hand. For example, if the students are going to be working with the Butterfly Jumper, cut the picture of the Butterfly Jumper out of the Sportime catalog and paste it on the task card. This will help the non- and slow-reader get the idea of the task.
You may want to offer several tasks at the same WallStop, creating a greater challenge as the students go down the list. For example, in the top slot might be dribble with one hand. Next dribble with one hand then the other. Dribble with one hand and walk around the gym. Dribble with either hand and do a zigzag pathway. Dribble while your partner tries to get the ball.
You can do this with virtually any grade level. The pockets will hold several different task cards. Just put one behind the other. You can ask the students to put the tasks just completed in the back of the pack.
